Ink Bag Replacement Instructions:

The lights above the Mimaki TxF-150/300 printer indicate when an ink bag replacement is required due to low ink level or ink expiration (i.e. yellow light: low/end/expired and red light: expired).

Follow these steps:

  1. Remove the cartridge and open the lid by pressing each of the 4 tabs holding the cartridge together.
  2. Remove the used ink bag and replace with the new ink bag. Ensure that the nozzle tip is positioned correctly so that the bag is secure and the lid can be closed easily.
  3. (Optional) Ink Chip replacement – see instructions on reverse side.
Note: The existing ink chip can be re-used, so long as it is not expired (about 2-3 bags)
  4. Now that the ink bag is installed, insert the cartridge back into the correct slot.
  5. Correcting the Ink Cartridge Case Weight: select [MENU] > [Machine Setup], then press the [Enter] key. Select [Eco cartridge] > [Cartridge Weight], then press the [ENTER] key. Select the required ink slot, then press the [Enter] key. (If the panel shows “Information 901 Invalid operation” the chip needs to be replaced.) Enter: [800] for White and [880] for CMYK. The light above the cartridge should now be solid blue

*[Recommended] Perform a hard fill up after changing to FIREBIRD ink the first time: [MENU] > [MAINTENANCE] > [FILL UP INK] > [HARD] > choose [HEAD1] for CMYK or choose [HEAD2] for white > press [ENTER] key. This process will purge any previous ink in the lines and prime FIREBIRD ink.

Ink Chip Replacement (Optional):

For cost/environmental savings, it is possible to reuse an existing ink chip 2 to 3 times, so long as the chip does not expire (indicated on the printer with the error message: “Expiration”). However, when an ink chip expires, or if you wish to replace an ink chip when the ink bag is replaced, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the cartridge and open the lid by pressing each of the 4 tabs holding the cartridge together.
  2. Remove the used ink chip from the slot at the left edge of the cartridge. Replace with the new ink chip.
  3. Close the lid and ensure that all 4 tabs snap tightly back into place. No need to correct the Ink Cartridge Case Weight.

Note: If the lid is not fully closed, there may be a small gap at edge of the cartridge and chip (see dotted red box). This gap can prevent the printer from reading the chip correctly (the light above the cartridge bay will still be solid red).
